Dance & History online 2027

On January 23–24, 2027, it’s that time again: Under the theme “News from Terpsichore,” we’re hosting our next online conference featuring eight exciting presentations on European dance culture from 1600 to 1900. Our program ranges from dancing children on stage (G.B. Heiter), German contra dances in Norway (E. Svarstad), miners’ dances from the Erzgebirge (M. Rasch), to traces of contra dances in Austrian folk dance forms (E. Schmidt) and the question of how to stage Baroque dance in the modern era (P.-F. Dollé). As in previous years, the program will again include presentations with practical demonstrations and video clips from artistic productions.
The conference is free of charge, but donations are very welcome. To assist non-German speakers, we also offer the Zoom feature for translated subtitles. You can find all the information and the detailed program here.
