Our workshops 2027: the Courante

After a break due to the symposium, we have once again organized workshops for 2027 as part of our “tanz | perspektiven” series:

Hamburg: February 27–28 and Munich: July 3–4

Over these weekends, Hubert Hazebroucq will use various choreographies to illustrate the development of the courante from the late 16th to the early 18th century. The courante, whose earliest form was already documented by Arbeau in 1589, was long considered the epitome of gallantry at the court of Louis XIV. It was not until the minuet emerged that it could challenge the courante’s status. It is thus one of the most important dances of the Baroque repertoire. Hubert is undoubtedly the foremost authority on this subject today, having studied it intensively for many years. The course is therefore a rare opportunity to learn more about this elegant dance form from a proven expert. You can find all the information and the registration form here.
