Sabee, Olivia. "Charles Lepicq and the Neapolitan Ballet d’Action." In Il virtuoso grottesco: Gennaro Magri Napoletano, edited by Arianna Beatrice Fabbricatore, 115-124. Canterano: Aracne editrice, 2020.

Abstract:
Charles Le Picq is best known as a student and disciple of Jean Georges Noverre. Although Le Picq dedicated much of his career to restaging his mentor’s work and disseminating his ideas, his approach to ballet d’action was more flexible than that of Noverre. Over the course of his travels throughout the European continent, Le Picq promoted ballet in the Noverrian style, yet he also allowed his creative output to take on certain elements of the regional styles to which he was exposed. This essay will focus primarily on Le Picq’s time in Naples, as well as briefly examining performances in Venice and London.
