Abstract:
In the first half of 18th century, dance played an important role in the everyday life of the aristocrats and burgers. The subject of research in this case will be the dance culture in Gdańsk/Danzig based on the dance treatise of 1717, published in Leipzig – Rechtschaffener Tantzmeister by Gottfried Taubert. This book is an opus magnum with more than 1,200 pages about the culture of dance, its history and practice, as well as a collection of experiences of the author, who was Maître de danse in Leipzig, Danzig, and lastly in Zerbst.
