Abstract:
This presentation offers an introduction to, and review of, the major source works on English Country Dancing published in the early 19th Century and late 18th Century. It investigates the Scientific, Mathematical and Analytical techniques used by the dance writers of England’s Age of Invention, as algorithm and taxonomy were applied to social dance forms.
